Well last night I was laying on the bed with my feet up because they were swollen. I didn't think you were supposed to have swollen feet this early in the pregnancy but oh well. It's a little annoying lately because my shoes are all getting tighter and smaller. I guess it's a combination of loosening ligaments and water retention. I guess I am just getting a preview of the discomforts I'll have when I get to the third trimester. Anyway as I was laying down I was looking at my belly and suddenly it jumped. It was so funny. The baby was kicking so hard that I could see my skin push out. I called Jim over and he could see her too, she was going crazy in there:) but when he put his hand on my stomach to feel her and she stopped kicking. Our silly little girl has been doing that a lot the last few days, I dunno why she won't let daddy feel her. A few days ago though, Jim did get to feel her alot. She was kicking tons and Jim said that's the most he's been able to feel her so far. He is going to be such a good daddy, I love when he touches or talks to the baby. his "baby time" is one of my favorite things and makes me love him even more. I love it when our little girl kicks. Yesterday made it a lot more real when my skin was poking out from her kicks and it was really exciting. It'll be fun to watch my jumping belly now and know that there is a tiny new human life inside of me.

25 Weeks

Here are some belly pics taken today at 25 weeks along.

On another note, I took the glucose test today to screen for gestational diabetes. I had heard lots of horror stories about the glucose solution so I was a little nervous but it actually wasn't bad at all. It tasted just like Sprite soda so it was easy to drink. Then I waited for an hour and read baby magazines. After an hour they drew my blood to check the glucose levels. The girl had a little trouble finding the vein and after poking one arm and checking the other, she called another girl over to try. The second girl was able to find the vein and got the blood right away. I'm hoping to pass this test so I won't have to take the 4 hour one which sounds like no fun at all.

Adorable!

My mom bought this for my birthday. I love it! I think it is so cute. You probably can't see it in the picture but it has a picture of a giraffe on it and it says "little girl" on the pocket. I can't wait to put my baby girl in this. I think it will make for some really cute pictures.

This is another one of my favorite things we have for the baby. We got this dress before we even knew if she was a girl. Jim thought if he bought a girl thing, then we'd end up with a boy. He was wrong so we get to dress our little girl in this cute dress. The only problem is that the smallest size they had was 3-6 months. I thought this would be fine and it'd be a little big this summer, but when we got home we realized the tag actually says 6 months on it. Maybe our daughter will be big though because her daddy was almost 10 lbs. at birth. Mommy is hoping that she isn't quite that big though, ouch.

Kite Flying

The other day we went out and flew kites again. It was a lot of fun. Jim bought two kites for us to fly when we were celebrating our anniversary last week. It ended up being a lot of fun so Jim decided to get another kite and some more string. We flew the kites in our own backyard. We have learned that Pleasant Grove has a lot of wind which makes it the perfect place because you don't have to run very much to get the kites up. We live in my aunts basement and luckily she has a big backyard. We brought her kids out with us and it was fun to see their excitement since a couple hadn't even flown kites before. We got one kite up 600 ft, another kite up maybe 300-400 ft. and that last one up probably 100-150 ft. The coolest thing was having all three kites up in the air at one time. We wanted to take a picture but before we could get the camera out, the lowest kite decided to nose dive right onto the roof. I love that it is now warm enough to start going outside again. I love the spring time and being outside in the sun after a long cold winter.

Our Perfect Day!

My husband is amazing! I don't how I got so lucky to have him but I am sure grateful that he is in my life. Sunday was our 1st anniversary so we decided that we would celebrate on Saturday. I woke up Saturday morning and Jim had made me a delicious breakfast of french toast and fruit. After breakfast he gave me a photo book he had made for me of pictures of us when we were dating and since we've been married. I loved it. Jim also gave me little "tickets" for different places to go and said we would have a busy day ahead of us..

The first place that we went was the Bountiful Temple where we were married. We walked around and it was fun to remember our wedding day.

The next place we went was miniature golfing. We went to a course called Hollywood Connections. It was really fun. Jim even shot a hole in one!

Next we went and flew kites at a park in Orem. Flying kites was something we did when we were dating. We did successfully get one kite up for a while but the other one didn't work so well. I guess we needed a little more wind.

After flying kites we went to the Provo Temple where we got engaged. We sat on "our" bench where he popped the question and just enjoyed the memories and excitement we felt when we first got engaged.

Finally we ended our day by having dinner at our special restaurant. The Great China is a little restaurant in Orem that we went to on our first valentine's day. We have since gone there for subsequent valentine's days and birthdays. We love it because it is never crowded, it has great food (my favorite is the chicken with snow peas mmm....) and it has great service.

Pretty much we had the perfect day together. I was so impressed that Jim was able to spend the whole day with me and that he didn't have to do homework. He was so sweet to plan the whole day and take me to all the places that have special meaning to us.

We celebrated our actual anniversary yesterday but eating cheesecake (Jim's all time favorite dessert) and watching our wedding video.
It's only been a year since we were married but so much has changed already. It was fun to look back and see that now we are expecting a baby girl and many of the friends and family that were at our reception have since gotten married or had babies. We look forward to many more years of being happily married together.

This is a video of the ultrasound from yesterday. The doctor gave us a VHS so until we get it transferred to DVD, we made a video of it on the camera. Sorry for the bad tracking and colored swirl :)

Her little feet!

It's a Girl!!!

Today was the day of the big ultrasound. The appointment was at 2:20 which made it a long day of waiting. Then we had to wait in the doctor's office for an hour before going in. Jim and my sister Cindy came. Seeing our baby was a neat experience, we saw it from the top of the head down to the little feet. The doctor measured and pointed out lots of major body parts and organs. We saw different parts of the brain, the four chambers of the heart, the stomach, the bladder, and the little thigh bone. She was dancing around during the ultrasound, making the doctor earn his pay. The doctor said that everything looks good. He ruled out some major birth defects, so we know our baby won't have spina bifida, cleft lip, or holes in the heart. We were very excited to hear that the baby is healthy. She still only weighs one pound, so we will keep her in the oven for a bit longer. The last thing that the doctor showed us was the gender. Jim could tell that it was a girl as soon as the doctor panned in, it left no doubt. We were a little surprised, as we both thought it would be a boy, but we are very excited. We're still unsure on the name. If you have any brilliant ideas, let us know. For now, we will call her Yosie (Short for Yosemite Park) or Brooklyn "The Bronx" Park. Yosie is my dad's name for the baby. She already likes the Yankees, daddy's little girl. Jim can't wait to buy her a little Yankees outfit, she would look so cute in pin stripes. I think that's a great idea as long as it's pink. I don't want to have any confusion, people thinking she is a boy when she is little. I plan on dressing her in lots of pink with cute flower bows on her head so that doesn't happen. We are so excited to meet our baby girl! She should come 07-08-09.
